Tis the Season to Continue a Successful Tradition
Members of Southwestern’s Latino Law Students Association (LLSA) are working hard work yet again to help ensure the success of the annual holiday toy drive, benefiting the students at Hoover Elementary School. With the assistance of the entire Southwestern community, LLSA hopes to once again give every single child at the school a holiday toy (close to 900 in total), delivered personally by Santa Claus himself.
“It is heartwarming to see that the law students of Southwestern continue to work tirelessly to make the toy drive a huge success,” shared Patricia Higuera Stout ’05, who helped initiate the toy drive 12 years ago. “They make Christmas wishes come true for hundreds of children each year, all in an effort to inspire confidence in these children by making them feel important. I am very proud of them and proud to be a Southwestern alumna. Keep up the great work!”
There are a few ways to support the holiday toy drive and ensure its continued success:
- Sponsor a child: Choose a letter written by one of the kids asking for a specific gift. Visit the LLSA members at the table in front of the Westmoreland Building, talk to any LLSA Board Member or email email@example.com for to obtain a child’s letter.
- Donate money toward a gift: Donations to the toy drive ensure that every child receives a gift. They can be made in person or online at www.swlaw.edu/giving (choose LLSA – Hoover Toy Drive Fund under Gift Designation).
- Sponsor a classroom: Groups or individuals can sponsor entire classes, either by buying gifts for all the students or donating a lump sum toward that group of children (and LLSA will do the shopping/wrapping for you!). Contact any LLSA board member or email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a sponsorship.
Gifts are due – wrapped or unwrapped – by Friday, November 22 to the LLSA members tabling in front of the Westmoreland Building, Dean Gharakhanian’s Office in BW423  (marked for the toy drive) or any LLSA Board Member. Gift wrapping parties will also be held in late November and early December for those on campus who would like to lend a hand. Keep an eye on Today at SW for wrapping party dates and specifics.
