The Residences at 7th Awarded LEED Platinum Certification

LEED Platinum logo on plaqueThe Residences at 7th, Southwestern’s new, on-campus student housing community, has been awarded LEED® Platinum certification. The LEED rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the foremost program for buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance. Certification recognizes the implementation of practical and measurable strategies and solutions aimed at achieving high performance in sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

The Residences at 7th, a living-learning village located at 3041 7th Street in Los Angeles, is a brand new, 133-unit housing complex that has transformed the law school’s urban campus. The project principals working with the Southwestern team included Corsini Stark Architects, Symphony Development and MATT Construction.

“We really knew as we began campus master planning that we wanted to ‘go green’ in our future campus developments,” said Janice Manis, Chief Operating Officer at Southwestern. “We knew that going green was the wave of the future and so crucial for Southwestern to design in this way to be a progressive and responsible member of the community.” Continue reading…
