Intellectual Property Watch reports that the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) recently published a paper by Professor Ryan Abbott on “Documenting Traditional Medical Knowledge” (“WIPO Publishes Expert Paper On Documenting Traditional Medical Knowledge”). As reported in early April on Facebook and Twitter, Professor Abbott was commissioned to write the paper by WIPO, a division of the United Nations.
In the latest article on the Comcast/Time Warner merger in Variety (“NCTA Preview: Comcast-TWC Combo Would Gain Leverage Over Programming, Broadband”), Professor Warren Grimes is quoted on the subject, and in particular, on the ripple effect that will hit smaller operators and networks.
Various articles on the Aereo case, which went before the Supreme Court recently, mention the amicus brief written by student Andrew Pletcher, under the supervision of Professors Epstein and Grimes, as a part of Southwestern’s Amicus Project. Broadcasting and Cable summarizes the points of the brief in “Professors: Aereo Is Healthy Response to Dysfunctional System,” while the Christian Science Monitor’s article “Aereo Internet service vs. TV broadcasters: US Supreme Court to decide” quotes Professor Epstein directly and the “Aereo Amici Roundup” on CIMC/Greenfield ¬†includes a link to the brief itself.
