Alumni in the Media
Alum Bruce Tollner ’91 and his cousin Ryan, partners in Rep1 Sports, are featured in the Sports Illustrated’s article “An inside look at how two agents guided clients throughout NFL Draft,” which will appear in the magazine’s May 19 issue. “By allowing SI to tag along during the three days of the draft, the Tollners provided a front-row-seat view of the agency’s finest hour,” the articles states. It also goes into the background of both agents, as well as the agency, which has “gone through a handful of names and configurations since Bruce founded it in 1992″ (including a 2002 merger with Leigh Steinberg and Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon).
Phyllis W. Cheng ’93, an alumna and member of Southwestern’s Board of Trustees, is featured on the cover of the May 2014 issue of InsideCounsel Magazine. The article, “State of evolution: Inside the DFEH,” touches on her background and her role as the Director of the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH). “I’m the second longest serving director in the history of the department, and I hope to be the longest serving. It’s a wonderful job and a great place to make changes and bring a civil rights agency into the 21st century.” You can also learn¬†more about Ms. Cheng in the¬†Q&A on our website.
Alumna Evie Jeang ’01, founder and managing partner of Ideal Legal Group, was profiled in April’s InsideCounsel Magazine¬†(“Privacy is important to family law, employment law practice in California”). The article talks about her practice, the unique area of international divorce, privacy and the importance of being more discrete in online communication, since this relatively new forum has become more prevalent – and problematic – in family law disputes. ‚Ä™
