Southwestern Honored at Los Angeles Architectural Awards

The Residences at 7th Pearl and CourtyardUnique awards presented by the Los Angeles Business Council celebrate the best of the region’s new and innovative architectural achievements¬†

Southwestern earned the L.A. County Sustainability Award for The Residences at 7th during the 44th Annual Los Angeles Architecture Awards hosted by the Los Angeles Business Council (LABC) in June. The Residences, a 133-unit on-campus student housing complex, has transformed the law school’s urban campus, which includes the historic Bullocks Wilshire landmark. The project principals working with the Southwestern team included Corsini+ Stark Architects, Symphony Development and MATT Construction.

“We decided early on as we began campus master planning that we wanted to ‘go green’ in our future campus developments,” said Janice Manis, Chief Operating Officer at Southwestern. “We knew that sustainable construction is the wave of the future, and that it is crucial for Southwestern to design in this way to be a progressive and responsible member of the community.” The Residences at 7th earned LEED certification at the Platinum Level from the U.S. Green Building Council in December 2013.
